2.3 Dreams
I do dream (in) language. I can't always recall doing it, but you just know you do. I'm not certain if all my dreams are in Dutch, but I think it could be. I don't remember myself dreaming in English or Turkish, but this is something that I didn't pay attention to. I think if I did, I would notice a lot of things I haven't been noticing right now. Something I did pay attention to is remembering the dreams. Sometimes when I wake up, I can still remember my dream very good. Then I go back to sleep and later that day, when I want to tell my dream to someone, I remember about 5%. I can tell so little about my dream that it scares me. I think to myself 'How did I forget this already?'. I try to think of the meanings of dreams as well. This is because I sometimes wake up with the feeling I had in my dream, as if it really happened. I can wake up feeling really bad. I like to think there is a deeper thought/meaning behind some dreams.
Blind/deaf people have dreams as well, but I think it happens differently for them. This is actually a question someone asked me one day. I said that blind people know how things look and even if they become blind, they can dream about it. 'But what if they were born blind?', he asked. That's when I didn't really know what to say. But when I think about it, blind people can feel and smell things. I think they have a image in their head of how things are supposed to look like. However, dead people don't have that problem. They can see, but they can't hear. I do think it is possible they can hear in their dreams, but I guess we won't know that for sure.
